These illustrations were made to reflect the vision of the brand’s creative director, for each of the fashion house’s two annual runway collections. Mainly used for the initial planning stages — to set the mood and sculptural direction for each of the looks to be developed.
-
Illustrating runway collection concepts according to the creative director’s own vision. Hand-drawn sketches in relaxed postures, with digitally added colours and effects — usually in textured black, white or grey, with chrome accent details.
I also helped visualise the early interior and exterior ideas for the showroom in London.
-
Numerous of these runway pieces have been worn by well-known names in the entertainment industry — such as Julia Fox, Beyoncé and Brooke Candy — for red carpet events, promotional photoshoots, and other key occasions. They are treasured for their unconventional approach to beauty, as well as their dark and poetic take on shape and texture in conjunction to the movements of the human body.

CHTONIC PENUMBRA
“It is my emotional state at that moment. It is hopefully beautiful. It is driven by my nature, which can be a bit melancholic and can have a tendency to be a bit dystopian.”

SEARCHING FOR SHADOWS
“Shadows are what we think of it to be. The objects, shapes, and emotions it carries with it, is up to the receiver to feel. My aim is that it is interesting enough for people to engage in.”

SCULPTING DARKNESS
“I get inspired by being in moody thoughts. I come from Copenhagen, and the sun is shining two times a year, so it is just kind of automatically the space you’re in. I like the word ‘sad’. Sadness doesn’t have to be sad — there is value in sadness.”
— Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen (Hypebae)

SILENCE (womenswear)
“For SS22, the creative director celebrated the weirdos and the misfits, as he so often does. An emphasis on confidence and embracing imperfection, on feeling at home in one's skin, was the starting point of the collection.”

STAYING ON THE MOON (menswear)
“There seems to be an expectation of people adapting to
the norms of the society. I have always loved the imperfect
and the unknown. I believe it’s important that one should
be allowed to be himself/herself.”
— Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen (The Cube Magazine)
